Update #2 — Announcements


Hello, everyone!

Thank you for your continued support for The Glass Coffin. Since our last dev log, we have received a handful more form submissions, ratings, feedback, and even generous donations from our players. We can't thank you enough for your support.

In this dev log, we will provide a general overview of what we've been working on, as well as conclude with a few exciting announcements.

Feedback

In continuation of our previous update, where we shared general trends we saw in our forms, we'll share more insight we've received from those who have played TGC.

  • Typos/Minor Grammatical Errors: A few typos and minor grammatical errors were brought to our attention, so we will be addressing those as we transition into the heavy editing and writing process. 
  • More Character Art: Players have expressed the desire for more character art. We are happy to announce that we are working with the character artist, Eightway, for additional sprites and CGs for the extended and updated demo, scheduled for later this year.

Writing

Ren is revisiting the outline for the extended demo and collaborating with Ende for additional edits and revisions to existing content. Ren is also working with Wes on enriching the story, including generating ideas for scene extensions, choices, and story elements.

Programming/GUI

As revealed in the previous update, Ende has already developed a stats page, CG gallery, and additional minor features to the gameplay experience, all of which will be included in the new build scheduled for later this year.

Ende has transitioned towards improvements for the GUI, creating more customized screens, including the title and settings page, in-game menu, as well as the CG gallery. Ende will also be enhancing the credits animation and incorporating additional features and animations.

Settings Screen

Current settings screen layout, which includes an area that displays which mode the game is currently in (Normal vs. Explicit), as well as other customization options.

Ren and Ende will be creating new assets for the game, such as buttons, textboxes, and more.

Art

One of the most exciting announcements is that the talented Eightway will be continuing on the project and creating more art for the new build! Although we can't reveal all of the details just yet, we will say that the new art will include a sprite for The Glass Coffin's fan favorite, Belle.

Patreon

Our final announcement is that Crystal Compass now has a Patreon! If you would like to support our work, you can pledge to our Patreon to receive exclusive benefits, including sneak peeks into our game development process and polls.

We currently only have 3 tiers available, each with its own unique perks. Contributions to our Patreon go directly into funding for our titles, such as The Glass Coffin.
