Update #1 — Looking Forward


Hello!

It has been a little over a month since the release of the NaNoRenO Version of The Glass Coffin's demo.

We want to take a moment to extend our gratitude to those who have been warmly supporting the game and leaving honest, constructive feedback for us. We have been working steadily to address everyone's concerns and preparing for a new, improved build for the game!

Feedback

A general overview of the feedback forms indicates that the current build for The Glass Coffin is satisfactory in the following categories:

  • Story pacing and length
  • Character complexity
  • Mystery
  • Soundtracks
  • Character art

On the other hand, responses indicated a desire for:

  • A stats page
  • More horror content
  • Additional character sprites
  • Background art variety
  • More choices earlier in the story

All of these points will be addressed in the following build.

Writing

Ren will be writing additional scenes starting in late May. The new build will come with the continuation of the story, as well as improvements to existing content.

A hint to those who are currently playing or have yet to play The Glass Coffin is that there are scene and line variations that heavily depend on Rei's stats.

(Spoiler Warning) There are many minor scene variations, approximately three to four major variations, three R18 scenes, and two alternate endings total in the NaNoRenO build. The number of variations also depends on the game mode, with the Explicit Mode generally allowing for more variation than Normal Mode.

Programming

Ende has been working to program new features, including a stats page and CG gallery, as well as an updated UI design.

GUI

We are working towards a GUI that better captures the aesthetic of The Glass Coffin. GUI assets that we are working on include buttons and a new title screen.

BGM/SFX

We will be adding sound effects in our upcoming build to enrich the atmosphere of the game.

Upcoming Build

As this game is still in development, there is a possibility that updated builds will break saved data from previous builds, resulting in the need to restart the game for the new build. However, we are working to prevent or minimize that.

In the meantime, we continue to encourage feedback on The Glass Coffin and will keep the form up until the new build is released.
